On May 13th, 2015 at approximately 1748 hours, units from St.Leonard VFD were alerted to the serious auto accident on Broomes Island Road, in the area of Howard Drive. The Fire Chief (R. Weems II), Squad 7(C. Hosselrode), Ambulance 78(Graham), and Car 7(Garrett) responded on the call. First arriving units found a 2-vehicle off-set head-on collision with four patients trapped, two of which being children. Squad 7 immediately went to work with the assistance of Squad 2 to extricate the trapped victims. A total of three helicopters were requested and members began ALS and BLS treatment of the patients. Once everyone was extricated, all four patients were transported to the landing zone and transported to local trauma centers via MSP Trooper 7, 2, and 6. Unfortunately despite the best efforts of everyone at the scene and Hospital, one of the adult females succumbed to her injuries. Our deepest condolences, thoughts & prayers are with the family & friends of the patient.
